HOUSE OF WANG Opens its Beijing Flagship Store

A restored hutong in Beijing’s historical heart is now home to multi-brand design company HOUSE OF WANG, the sole distributor of a selection of internationally renowned lifestyle brands in the Chinese mainland

Baofang Hutong, located amongst some of Beijing’s most popular art galleries, museums and libraries, is now home to a groundbreaking new multi-brand showroom, HOUSE OF WANG. The new platform was founded by Ruby Ren and Eric Wang, both influential business leaders in the Chinese design industry, and represents a number of global contemporary brands and artists, including: Sé Collection, OCHRE, Bethan Gray, Nada Debs, Apparatus Studio, Lee Broom, Omar Khan Rugs, 1882 Ltd., Alexa Lixfeld, Corine van Voorbergen and Peter Yuill.

Local architecture firms SlowStudio and Dramaa have joined forces to design the flagship showroom set inside a historic Chinese courtyard structure. Both HOUSE OF WANG founders are native Beijingers, so preserving and restoring a piece of the city’s history was important to them when starting this new venture. In order to create a sense of cohesiveness between the myriad brands and satisfy various functional requirements, the designers turned the site’s size and lighting constraints into an advantage, giving each interior space its own theme with the aim to best display the wide collection of furniture designs and art pieces. 

‘Each piece selected by House of Wang showcases eclectic elegance in its form and materials; every brand chosen is devoted to the designer’s perception of life; and each design language uniquely illustrates the sensibility and character of its creator,’ Ruby Ren explains. ‘At House of Wang, we can touch, feel, listen to stories about a piece and be moved by authentic design’
