Making a Show of it

Singaporean designer and founder of LTW Design Works, Lim Hong Lian spent three years building his hilltop home.  The sleek three-storey structure is sheathed in rusted Corten steel and surrounded by lush gardens, while inside, a MC Escher-esque staircases and colossal sculpture wall dominate the space.

‘The design,' says Lim of the open indoor/outdoor layout, 'is inspired by living in the tropics in the British colonial times when we didn’t have air conditioning and houses were built with natural ventilation. It’s a living house — we have bats and birds flying through — it’s great!’
