FLEXFORM Around the World

Join us on an around-the-world trip that explores the interiors of some of the globe’s most illustrious homes. Brimming with vivid photographs, the new title Flexform Around the World invites readers to indulge in a behind-the-scenes peek into eclectic domiciles from the minimally chic to the bold and exotic, all of which share one thing in common — the good taste to have chosen FLEXFORM furnishings.

Established in the now-infamous furniture manufacturing district of Brianza on the outskirts of Milan, FLEXFORM was founded by the Galimberti brothers in 1959 during a time of great creative ferment in the region. Age-old craft traditions had begun to marry with modern innovation, all guided by a spirit of experimentalism that emanated from the nearby School of Architecture in Milan. The Galimberti brothers’ studio was no exception. By collaborating with some of the leading designers of the day, their modern furniture forms began to find their way into the grand apartments of Milan, villas surrounding Lake Como and even, perhaps most notably, the foyer of Teatro alla Scala. Flexform continues in much the same manner to this day — still a family-run business collaborating with some of the most avant-garde designers of the 21st century, pushing the frontiers of design ever forward.

To mark its more than 50 years of creative disruption, FLEXFORM has launched this prestigious first title. Flexform Around the World is lavishly illustrated with imagery from many of the most outstanding projects for which FLEXFORM products have been specified. Following a trail that leads around the globe, readers are treated to the most remarkable interiors, from homes and hotels to restaurants and yachts. This book is sure to ignite the imagination of armchair readers and professionals alike, proving a source of inspiration and testament for design professionals as to the extreme versatility of FLEXFORM’s products.

From a stunning villa in Singapore to a penthouse in the Studio Boeri-designed Bosco Verticale in Milan, from an exclusive seaside resort in The Maldives to the prestigious hotel Pier One on Sydney’s inner harbour, this volume shows how the company’s motto ‘Home at last’ rings  true in a variety of settings, each beautiful in its own unique way. Between stops and along the way, readers are treated to added images of the studio’s many sources of inspiration: nature, architecture, art and food, to name a few.

For the proudly Italian company, the work is an important achievement, the result of a significant investment of resources and energies. Two years in the making, Flexform Around the World showcases 75 remarkable projects chosen from an original pool of over 600, and is large in format — 28x36 cm and a total of 225 pages — meaning it will reside happily as an addition to any coffee table collection.

Charting the globe, from a classical Venice canal house to a Haussmann apartment in Paris, from ornately tiled bohemian hideouts to exotic beachside locales, this book has something in store for everyone, while also celebrating a half-century’s worth of achievements of one of Italy’s most respected family brands.
