Antonio Citterio Talks Design

In this video, legendary Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio explains how his new collection for Italian furniture brand Flexform is an exploration into the relationship between people, creativity and craft

Having worked with Flexform for almost five decades, Italian architect and designer Antonio Citterio understands that simplicity, elegance, comfort and improving quality of life are inherent to Flexform’s DNA. ‘Being simple does not mean being commonplace,’ he says of the Ontario sofa, a simple design elevated by luxury materials like solid iroko wood. On the other hand, in the Tessa armchair he combines rustic woven paper rush — evoking the straw and wicker chairs of his childhood memories — with the sophistication of Canaletto walnut or solid ash. Both pieces are exemplary of the new collection, and indeed of Citterio’s elegant design approach.
